IGLÀ is an independent leather studio based in Tallinn, Estonia, led by artisan Maria Nesterenko. Every piece is handcrafted—from the initial cut to the final stitch. No part of the process is outsourced; nothing is rushed.

Maria employs the traditional saddle stitch, a technique requiring two needles and hours of disciplined manual labor. While more time-consuming than machine stitching, the result is significantly more durable. A masterfully executed saddle stitch does not unravel; it endures, ages beautifully, and remains repairable for a lifetime.

The name IGLÀ, meaning “needle,” is a tribute to the fundamental tool of the craft. Maria’s background in art and music informs her process: finding rhythm in repetition and precision in every movement. Her bags are not merely assembled—they are built, step by step, with deliberate intent.

IGLÀ stands apart from fast fashion and seasonal trends. It is about creating enduring companions—minimalist in form, honest in materials, and designed to age rather than be replaced. This is slow craftsmanship in its purest form.
